Recently I saw the 1993 Super Mario Bros. live action movie (starring Bob Hoskins & John Leguizamo) and would like to start by saying that this movie almost made me cry. Not because it was sad or emotional in any way.... but because it was BAD! It broke my heart to see such a wonderful title like the Super Mario Bros series tarnished by such a descretion. So I'm on a mission to redeem the super Mario Bros in my own eyes by redesigning the Super Mario world for an actual Action packed creation.

(Warning! Some of my own characters are in this and does not strictly adhere to the Mario Bros story)
Storyline: Bowser, the King of Koopas, has always wanted to rule the Mushroom Kingdom. However, he is constantly thwarted by the current king, King Toadstool. Bowser, furious that his latest attetmpt at ruling failed at the good king's hands. Bowser, not one for fair play, secretly met with Goomba Commander (general of the Mushroom Kingdom's military forces) and promised him fame, fortune, and anything else his heart desires if he will only join The Koopa King's army. Seduced by Bowser's offers, Goomba Commander agreed, and Bowser left to reassemble his army. When Bowser next came calling the citizens of Toadstool castle were over-confident that the Goombas would crush the Koopa Troopas as they did before. However, when the Goombas betrayed the King and opened the gates, the citizens soon realized they were in WAY over their heads.

Bowser was now the true King of the Mushroom Kingdom and his first act was to kidnap Princess Peach a lock her away inside of a painting. Then he stole the Starmen (all 150), imprisoned the Toads, and had King Toadstool executed simply to show his authority. With that bowser sent his Magikoopa General, Kamek, on a mission to assasinate every Plumber in all of the Mushroom Kingdom (Plumbers are different in Mario world then in ours. Plumbers are the elite fighters who go on special missions for the King... kind of like mercenaries). Kamek himself went after Antonio Mario and his wife Carmina Mario. Antonio got word that Kamek and the Hammerbros were coming after him, so he took his two sons, Mario and Luigi, and gave them to his trusty Yoshi, then plead with the Dinosaur to take them to safety. Yoshi refused at first, wishing to say and fight alongside Antonio, but Antonio was so desperate that Yoshi agreed just as the Hammerbros arrived. As Yoshi ran he looked back over his shoulder just in time to watch as Antonio was struck by a freezing spell of Kamek's and swarmed over by Hammerbros.

Yoshi took Mario and Luigi to the remote Yoshi Island where the old Plumber Dario Soprano lived. Yoshi gave the Mario Brothers to Dario and asked him to raise the two children. Dario, realized that these were the sons of Antonio, took them with honor and raised him as his own. Over time he taught them in the ways of the Plumber, making them Elite warriors who could one day oppose Bowser.

However, the quiet life on Yoshi Island was about to come to an abrupt halt. King Bowser had recently come into possesion of a Gigantic Piranha Plant from the Fire Flower Kingdom... Petey Piranha. The savage beast of a Piraha was used as a weapon of mass destruction in War, a way to punish communities that grew unruly, and even torture those who defied him. Delfino Plaza on Yoshi Island had recently been getting out of hand and Bowser decided to teach them a lesson. Sending Petey Piranha to the town, carrying two massive cages, the Piranha was unleashed and began a wave of destruction. Contained in the cages that Petey used as weapons were the most recent offenders of Bowser's rule. An old Toad governor named Toadsworth, and a female Goomba archeologist named Goombella. As Petey rampaged through the Town, Mario and Luigi confronted the monster. In the end, the Best was destroyed and the town saved.

Bowser was in a terrible rage over the destruction of his most powerful asset and called on Kamek. Bowser believed that it was Dario who had destroyed his prescious Petey Piranha. Recently, Kamek had been experimenting with Starman power and had found a way to re-animate dead Koopa Troopas a skeletons to do his bidding. He had originally tried to keep it a secret from Bowser, but he soon found out. He ordered Kamek to send as many Dry Bones as possible to Delfino Plaza and kill Dario. Kamek took his forces into Delfino Plaza by night, and attacked Dario's house. Dario ordered Luigi to run and get Mario, who was out collecting Super Mushrooms. Dario fought his hardest but the Dry Bones continued to reassemble and he soon became tired. Kamek's Dry Bones proved too much and Dario was overcome. Mario and Luigi arrived just in time to fight Kamek. Kamek was loosing and resorted to foul play, using freezing spells upon them, enabling him to escape and return to Bowser.

Bowser was pleased to hear that Dario had been killed but when Kamek told Bowser how old Dario had been, even Bowser was skeptical that an old man like him could have killed Petey Piranha. Then Kamek told him about Mario and Luigi. bowser was furious that two young new Plumbers had come to the mushroom Kingdom and sent nothing short of an army of Koopa Troopas and Goombas to destroy them. Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi fought with such ferocity that the survivors were forced to retreat back to Toadstool Castle, leaving Bowser in a rage like never before. The Mario Bros collected their stock of Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, Flight Feathers, and Metal Boxes. Then they came after Bowser himself. Fearful for his own life, Bowser sent the Koopas back out at Mario, only to have them defeated a second time. Bowser next sent the elite Hammerbros out to deal with the two heroes, but they were also easily defeated. Bowser became so angry that he recklessly sent wave after wave of his own forces at the Mario Bros such as Chain Chomps, Bullet Bills, Wigglers, King Bom-omb, The Koopa Bros, Lakitus, and even Birdo, but none of them were able to stop the Mario twins.

With the brothers closing in on the castle, Bowser hired two ex-Plumbers who were now just in it for the money... Wario and Waluigi. Bowser sent the two to wait for the Mario Bros in Donut Land. As Mario and Luigi appraoched their Alter eogs launched an ambush. The two teams were evenly matched until Wario decided to use one of the Starmen Bowser had lent him. Wario gained the invincibility Powers it granted and defeated the Mario Bros. Wario and Waluigi returned to Bowser without finishing their counter parts off. A terrible mistake as Yoshi was able to revive them with Green Mushrooms. Next thing Bowser knew, the Mario Bros were in the castle. Ordering Wario and Waluigi to wait outside his chamber and protect it at all costs. Meanwhile, Toadsworth and Goombella had convinced the Goomba Commander to break free of Bowsers control and fight. A deadly civil war broke out amongst the Goombas and the Koopa Troopas, easily enabling Mario and Luigi to gain access to Bowser's Castle. The Mario Bros faced off against the Wario Bros once more, but this time the Mario Bros prevailed.

As they entered Bowser's throne room, Mario and Luigi found themselves facing their toughest battle of all time. Bowser had decided to fight the Mario Bros himself. No matter what they threw at the Koopa King he proved himself far more powerful than the Mario twins. Unable to defeat Bowser, Mario caused a section of the ceiling to calpyse on the King, giving Mario enough time to release Princess Peach from the painting. Mario took the Princess to Yoshi and pleaded with the the Dinosaur to take the Princess and run. Yoshi was reluctant to do so, after what had happened to Antonio, but Mario finally convinced him to go. Yoshi fled the castle and Mario returned to help Luigi bring down the King of Koopas. It was clear, however, that Bowser would win the battle. In a Earthshattering blow, Bowser knocked Mario back and into unconsiousness. With Mario down for the count, Bowser prepared to deliver his most powerful fire-blast to utterly obliterate Mario. Luigi, seeing his brother in peril, found the courage inside himself to stand up to Bowser. Using the last Super Mushroom and Fire Flower, Luigi leapt in the way of the Fire Blast, redirecting back at Bowser. Bowser's own attack completely destroyed, only a pile of bones remained.

With Bowser destroyed the Mario Bros believed victory was theirs. Until Kamek appeared. Revealing that Bowser had been highly intrested in the prospect of immortality that the Dry bones tranformation intailed, Bowser and asked Kamek to revive him in the eventuality of his death. Kamek told the Mario Bros how he had not had enough magic to revive Bowser and they needed an Alternate Power source to sustain him. Then Bowser had thought of the Starmen, and swallowed one, in order to give Kamek a port to channel his magic. Bowser, however, had overlooked the fact that the Dry Bones had no free will... and blindly followed the commands of Kamek. Kamek revived Bowser as Dry Bowser, and now had an indestructable tyrant under his control. Kamek's first act was to send Dry Bowser out into the city and wreak havoc. Dry Bowser attacked the city with no remorse killing everything; Toad, Goomba, and even the Koopas. Dry Bowser and an army of Dry Bones seemed like an unstoppable power, and no matter what the Mario Bros tried they could not even make Dry Bowser falter in his attempts to do his Master's bidding. Luigi suddenly had the idea that with Bowser out of the way they could easily take the starmen back. They returned to the Castle and fought Kamek over the possession of the stars. Mario and Luigi collected the remaining 148 stars just in time for Kamek to escape with the 149. Kamek fled the Mario Bros and found Dry Bowser, ordering him to destroy the Mario Bros before they used the Star Power. Dry Bowser converged on the Mario Bros, but Mario used the last Metal Box, making himself indestructable. Mario had Luigi fire him out of a Bill Blaster directly into Dry Bowser's chest. In his Metal form, Mario's velocity fired him straight through the skeletal Koopa King... and grabbed the 149 star as he did so. Dry Bowser nolonger had enough power for Kamek to sustain him. The Bones calpysed, leaving Kamek without protection. Kamek invoked the power of the final star and erected a force field around himself. Mario and Luigi combined their strength and absorbed the power of all 149 stars. The massive amount of energy was too much and they directed the power and Kamek. The star field around kamek was torn through like tissue paper, destroying Kamek and the Dry Bones along with him. With all 150 stars back in possession of Princess Peach, she reclaimed her rightful place as ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom.
